Government Recognises That TNBC Needs A Specific Approach

Recently, government representatives made an important statement recognising the challenges faced by individuals affected by various forms of cancer and reaffirmed the need for a more focused approach to cancer care:

“The Government recognises that a cancer specific approach is needed to meet the challenges in cancer care and to improve outcomes for people living with different types of cancers, subtypes of cancer and triple negative breast cancer”.

This acknowledgment is a significant milestone for the TNBC community, marking the first time the Government has explicitly addressed the need for a dedicated focus on this aggressive form of cancer. With the Government’s new Plan for Cancer currently in development, this recognition is timely, hopefully signalling a shift towards more specialised care for those affected by TNBC and other complex cancer types.

Robin Woolcock, founder and chairman of the UK Charity for TNBC, expressed his gratitude for the recognition, calling it a pivotal moment for those living with TNBC. “This is an important step in ensuring that TNBC is no longer overlooked in national discussions about cancer care,” said Woolcock. “Our thanks go to MSD, who through our joint programme ‘I Count’ has been working hard to gain this awareness of TNBC amongst key decision makers.”
